Universal Studios Loews Sapphire Falls Resort
With a target completion of one year, General Caulking and Coatings Company partnered with Balfour Beatty for the massive and challenging undertaking of this time-sensitive project.
The project is a full-service resort consisting of 7-10 buildings including a convention center, parking garage, multiple connecting guest towers, restaurants, tropical lagoon, towering waterfall and the entertainment areas.
The scope of work for GCC consisted of waterproofing a below grade service tunnel that connected all resort buildings, waterproofing elevator pits, caulking of all exterior windows, installation of expansion joint systems both vertical and horizontal, hot applied waterproofing systems over occupied spaces and waterproofing pedestrian deck coating systems throughout the resort.
The project was performed in stages with all waterproofing below grade systems installed first. GCC used Carlisle Waterproofing systems for the below grade tunnel waterproofing and hot applied systems.
This challenging project with Balfour Beatty Construction was completed on time and is watertight.
